- The Tang dynasty is responsible for many achievements. Innovation was encouraged, and as a result there were improvements on inventions and new inventions.
- During the Tang dynasty the compass, which had been invented way earlier, was greatly improved upon.
- Woodblock printing was invented. Tang printers would carve a picture or words into a block of wood, and the block of wood would be used to stamp the art or literature onto paper. Many copies could be made.
- Another great invention of the Tang dynasty was gunpowder, which the Tang people used for fireworks and not as a weapon.
- Tang inventors also created porcelain, although it was refined throughout later dynasties to become the porcelain we know today.
